🏠 Our Humble Beginnings

Back in 2025, Jaken Herman was a frustrated dad trying to manage his family's finances with overly "Simlifi"-d software. Feature-lacking financial software plagued his attempts at budgeting, project forecasting, and expense tracking. The makers of Quicken clearly were beginning a push towards web-based, simplified solutions, but Jaken needed something that worked offline, was fast, and didn't require a subscription. "Why can't I just buy the software? Why am I renting it? Why does my data need to be backed up to the cloud? Why do I need AI-analysis?" he pondered.

That's when the idea for LedgerMate was born! Jaken began coding away, fueled by countless cups of coffee and a dream to make personal finance management accessible to everyone.
